Summary:

Seagen is seeking a Research Associate I to join our Potency Assays Group. Potency Assays is responsible for the development, qualification and implementation of Potency assays that include but are not limited to cell-based assays, binding ELISAs and AlphaLISAs as well as other methods to support the characterization and advancement of therapeutics in the Seagen pipeline.

Responsibilities:

  • Produces large-scale FRTU suspension/adherent cell banks suitable for use in the Potency Assay development environment and a GMP environment
  • Perform assays to support sample testing as well as analyze and interpret data and recognize errors or unusual results when they occur
  • Performs other experiments including assay qualifications and DOEs that are routine in nature and troubleshoots studies with supervision
  • May train new analysts on assays and participates in assay transfers to QC
  • Records accurate, clear, and complete experimental data and methods in a timely manner
  • Assists senior personnel in developing solutions to problems
  • Summarizes experimental results and presents to lab group
  • Contributes to lab upkeep and equipment maintenance
  • Contributes to technical reports and may author with guidance

Qualifications:

  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and sterile technique
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of immunological and general cell-based assays, ELISAs, cytotoxicity, tissue culture and molecular biology techniques
  • Demonstrates a scientific curiosity & understanding of potency assays and can critically evaluate and apply experimental techniques and approaches
  • Understands scope of projects and how work fits within the context of departmental goals
  • Must be driven, highly motivated and be able to work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a collaborative multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Creative, independent, well-organized, and solution-oriented
  • Takes initiative to carefully learn new tasks with guidance
  • Works jointly with other groups with coordination by supervisor; accepts direction from others in and outside the work group

Education:

  • B.S. in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Microbiology, Bioengineering, or related discipline. With industry working experience preferred

The hiring pay range for this position is $65,500 - $79,800 per year based on skills, education, and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
