Position Summary

The Medical Advisor will support the Medical Director to execute the Medical Affairs strategy and support the Italy Spain and Portugal cluster activities for Seagen products while ensuring adherence to all Seagen policies and procedures as well as local regulatory and legal requirements (compliance).

The Medical Advisor will be responsible for execution of the Medical Affairs strategy and activities by engaging and collaborating with the medical community and other external stakeholders as needed. Moreover, the Medical Advisor will collaborate closely with internal departments and colleagues in cross functional activities related to market access, clinical development, HEOR, launch and life cycle management of drug products to consolidate Seagen’s market position by engaging in scientific exchange and providing medical information and education on compounds and indications when relevant to external stakeholders, in compliance with applicable national laws, regulations and Seagen Policies.

The Medical Advisor will also provide operational support for activities related to Medical Information and Communication, Medical Education and Training, Seagen pipeline Clinical Development support (Clinical Trials (CTs)) as needed. The Medical Advisor will represent Seagen and Seagen Medical Affairs by exchanging scientific information, supporting clinical trials, engaging in scientific collaboration and collecting medical input and insights for key projects.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for identifying and building relationships with HCPs, including Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and cooperative groups within the region
  • Be responsible for interacting with patient advocacy groups and building durable relationships with them
  • Be responsible for scientific discussions, including managing national advisory boards, national peer to peer educational meetings, speaker briefings and trainings, scientific meetings and work with in-house and field partners to facilitate ongoing education/information/clinical data sharing (i.e., relevant new data, including data related to the safe use of Seagen products, customer insights, medical communications support) to optimize communications and coordinated activities across the organization
  • Be responsible for medical symposia at national and local congresses
  • Where relevant and required, deliver scientific presentations and education externally, and internally within Seagen
  • Build Seagen’s reputation and build Seagen’s medical network, in breast cancer and other indications
  • Collect medical insights and provide medical input to form and adjust the cross-functional brand plan
  • Act as a key liaison for all aspects of Real World Evidence generation
  • Align with MSL team on investigator sponsored trial to be in line with strategy
  • Execute conference strategy, including staffing of scientific booths at major national conferences
  • Attend medical and cross-functional brand team meetings, and Business Reviews, as appropriate
  • Support the development and implementation of the strategic Medical Engagement plan in close alignment with the cluster Medical Director and European Regional Medical Affairs
  • Participate and contribute actively, as medical representative and content expert, in Disease Area Teams relative to upcoming launches, Life-Cycle Management and Marketing concepts, to support the team on scientific and clinical issues
  • Identify key clinical and research issues from therapy area experts and communicate to appropriate departments within Region Europe to help shape company research, development, marketing plans and strategies
  • Contribute in alignment with cluster MSL team to Global studies through Medical input for Clinical Development Plans, study protocols, choice of study centres, feasibility, commitment of recruiting measurements in alignment with Region Europe and Regional clinical operation teams
  • Ensure the implementation and conduct of managed access programs as appropriate
  • To write articles, publications, and congress reviews
  • To keep up to date with the market and study (academic) environment regarding medical trends and clinical studies/trials. To share and disseminate medical information within the organization
  • To stay abreast of relevant medical literature in a self-directed manner
  • Provide clinical, scientific and medical support to support the Value/Market Access Team and the reimbursement-/value-dossier activities for new drugs
  • Contribute to the planning and control of the Medical budget for project activities
  • To participate in the preparation of medical or development audits as necessary
  • To support compliance in all interactions throughout the organization and maintain ongoing liaison with the Regional Compliance functions to ensure that all processes and activities are in line with internal and external policies tailored to the national requirements

Where applicable, the Medical Advisor, will be responsible for promotional materials review and approval. Key performance indicators

  • Scientific engagement activities within the medical community across the area of responsibility.
  • Building a network of Healthcare practitioners in Oncology, esp. in Breast cancer
  • Building Seagen’s reputation in the oncology community.
  • Design and timely execution of Medical Engagement Plan.
  • Scientific collaborations e.g. support of global and local trials, real world evidence projects and Named Patient / Early Access Programs as applicable.
  • Understand and identify healthcare decision makers, clarify clinical guidelines and map patient journeys.
  • Respond to unsolicited requests from Italian, Spanish and Portuguese HCPs for clinical, scientific or medical discussion regarding Seagen products.
  • Engage in legitimate scientific exchange regarding Seagen pipeline, in order to help inform Seagen Medical strategy in the Italy, Spain & Portugal cluster.
  • Where applicable and deemed clinically relevant and important for the safe and effective on-label use of Seagen products, provide clinical data updates to external stakeholders.
  • Generate and report competitive insights.
  • Integral support to access planning and execution, including reimbursement dossiers follow up.
  • Forecast accuracy budget planning

Qualifications:

  • Medically qualified and registered physician (highly preferred), or Master of Science or PhD/PharmD
  • More than 2 years’ experience in medical affairs and/or clinical research
  • Experience in oncology and preferably with an existing network in breast cancer
  • Clinical or research experience in the area of haematology or oncology is a preference
  • Experience of working in the pharmaceutical industry in a Medical Affairs role (preferred)
  • Proven track record regarding planning and organisational skills
  • Candidate should have strong presentation/interaction and time management skills
  • Experience in providing evidence-based scientific and clinical information to the medical community
  • Fluency in English is a must, Spanish preferred
