Summary:

The Sr. Counsel, Clinical Transactions, will provide legal support for Clinical Development Operations at Seagen for North America and APAC or other regions as assigned, including assisting in drafting and negotiating clinical trial agreements, including data privacy agreements and other legal documents, related to clinical trials.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Negotiates and drafts contracts related to clinical trials, including Company-sponsored clinical trial agreements, Investigator-Sponsored Trial agreements, and vendor agreements
  • Drafts and negotiates data privacy agreements and addenda related to clinical trials
  • Reviews informed consent forms and authorizations
  • Advises on matters that relate to compliance with international regulations and standards pertaining to clinical development and data privacy, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
  • Prepares tools, templates and guidance on negotiation of clinical site contracts in assigned territories
  • Provides legal interpretation on agreements, informed consents and authorizations and other related business matters and provides practical, business-orientated legal advice
  • Adopts a risk management approach to contracting, identifying and communicating risk while providing actionable solutions for managing risk
  • Interfaces with external legal resources, as appropriate
  • Coordinates with internal clients and other functional areas to ensure timely completion of agreements and appropriate contractual terms
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 5 – 7 years of relevant legal experience, including experience as in-house counsel
  • Experience in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment is critical, as is ability to “roll up sleeves” and work in a hands-on manner
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology/healthcare industry is required
  • Experience with Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) Systems is required Computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant data privacy laws and requirements
  • Knowledge of and experience in the pharmaceutical industry

Education:

  • JD or LLM degree
  • Active membership of a state bar association is a preference

The hiring pay range for this position is $115,000 to $149,000 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
