Summary
The Buyer I position is a professional position that participates in all procurement activities within the organization. Daily responsibilities include processing requisitions and purchase orders, tracking and expediting critical orders, interacting with key suppliers, and cross functional interaction as needed for problem solving and support. Applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues, and builds productive internal and external working relationships. This position works directly with the Purchasing Group under the Finance Department while supporting all internal customers cross functionally.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Process Daily Requisitions into Purchase Orders
- Issue Standard PO’s associated with approved contracts
- Follow-up on order Issues and problems
- Process PO-Invoice and Credit Card Reconciliations
- Process new vendor setup requests
- Vendor comparisons and conversions
- Negotiate cost savings when appropriate
- New Equipment/Vendor Sourcing
- Conduct end user training on purchasing tools and procedures
- Partner with functional areas within assigned categories on process improvement and cost savings opportunities
- Manage incoming user requests
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience in Purchasing (Contract and Capital Expense process familiarity highly desired)
- Knowledge of PO process and down steam workflow required
- Facilities or related biotech/ pharmaceutical experience preferred but not required
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Oracle iProcurement ERP and requisition management systems
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel for building tables and analyzing data
Education:
- High school diploma required, College degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Training/Certification on pricing negotiation and supply chain management preferred
