Summary
The Associate Director, Specialty Accounts is the primary liaison between SGEN and the company’s specialty pharmacy and distribution network, which includes IDN owned SPs, IDN Aggregators, Health Care Provider owned SPs and other key potential customers as appropriate based on SGEN’s current and future product portfolio. The Associate Director, Specialty Accounts is responsible for developing and executing business plans that directly contribute to achievement of corporate objectives, as well as supporting products within their assigned accounts in alignment with those objectives.
The Associate Director, Specialty Accounts will act as an agent on behalf of his/her assigned specialty pharmacy and distribution segment to the broader SGEN organization and Distribution Leadership, functioning as in-house channel expert with a keen understanding of industry trends. This role will report to the Director, Specialty Accounts and Distribution Strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Work with high-level decision makers within the channel segments (Specialty Pharmacy, IDN owned SPs, IDN Aggregators, Health Care Provider owned SPs) to develop and maintain critical business relationships and contract compliance ensuring a consistent patient experience and access
- Implement and enforce pricing and/or performance contracts at various classes of Trade
- Develop and maintain a high level of rapport and integrity within the trade sector, resulting in mutually beneficial long-term business opportunities
- Assist Distribution and Organization in new product launches
- Collaborate on channel strategy development; apply subject matter expertise to maximize patient access and achieve corporate goals for the Seattle Genetics portfolio of products
- Partner with Managed Care and Sales Leadership to develop and meet organizational product portfolio objectives
- Assist with negotiation, coordination and execution of distribution agreements with identified key customers
- Identifies needs, analyzes options, make recommendations based on analysis to assist in the development and implementation of Distribution Strategy to meet Distribution and Organization objectives
- Develop and execute strategic and tactical account planning, including uncovering needs, stakeholder / influence mapping, identifying / prioritizing business goals, defining and delivering value propositions in collaboration with Marketing and Managed Market teams, and developing tactical implementation plans
- Support internal stakeholders, including distribution logistics, analytics, Sales Operations and finance as it pertains to assigned specialty pharmacy ordering, inventory, data, invoicing and other needs
- Develop and leverage relationships with experts at account levels to educate and inform therapeutic processes and protocols at a specialty pharmacy
- Deliver approved messages encompassing accurate clinical, financial, outcomes, and operational issues
- Participate in and lead regular specialty pharmacy and distribution business reviews with various stakeholders
- Coordinate data management from specialty pharmacies and distributors with relevant stakeholders
- Proactively communicate relevant information to impacted stakeholders
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of relevant industry experience
- 4+ years of account management and/or managed markets experience (preferred)
- Current knowledge of drug distribution channels and Specialty Pharmacy industry
- In-depth understanding of specialty pharmacy reimbursement
- In-depth understanding of Payer policies (preferred)
- Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding results and/or other quantitative targets, as well as qualitative goals
- Strong technical knowledge including ability to work in Excel, Word and PowerPoint and other like resources necessary to complete job duties
- Demonstrated account management and customer service skills and experience
- Excellent communication, written and verbal skills up, down and across the organization
- Excellent analytical capabilities for business presentations and quarterly business reviews
- Willingness to embrace new challenges in a rapidly changing healthcare environment
- Ability to build and maintain productive professional relationships with a diverse array of internal and external stakeholders, including effectively navigating sensitive conversations as necessary
- Willingness to contribute work effort to support new product launch within in Distribution and Organization
- 40% business travel will be required
Education:
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree, MBA or pharmacy degree preferred
