Manager VSM - Buyer Full Service CRO & Functional Service Provider

Clinical Development Operations - US Field Based - Bothell, Washington

Summary

Reporting to the Director, Vendor Strategy Management, this position will support the selection of the appropriate vendor per the service category, the definition of an appropriate SOW, negotiation in line with the needs of CDO (Clinical Development Operations). This position is responsible for working transversally with all CDO functions, development, Legal and external parties to execute vendor service agreements; support CDO teams in managing the vendor from start-up to close-out of the agreement. This position is also responsible to support the category director in the development and refinement of the service category as assigned.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Develops the details of the SOW from the needs as defined by the assessment of the CDO teams
  • Supports the selection of vendors from the approved category strategy
  • Is a primary contact for vendor on service initiation and scope modification as it affects the vendor agreement
  • Facilitates the resolution of escalations on a primary level with teams
  • Collaborates and contributes cross-functionally and acts as a representative of VSM for process efficiencies and continuous improvements as assigned
  • Applies attention to detail in the review and negotiation of service agreements
  • Participates in ongoing market analysis for current and new service providers aligned with CDO strategy

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ pharmaceutical or healthcare industry experience within associated functions (e.g. pre-clinical, clinical operations, clinical systems, finance, R&D, purchasing or procurement)
  • Minimum 3 years’ direct procurement/purchasing experience supporting pharmaceutical R&D purchasing/procurement of CRO services specifically full package, functional insourcing and outsourcing
  • Proven scope interpretation and negotiation skills, working through clinical study teams and other functional areas
  • Ability to manage a range of priorities to delivery and out of critical path for study start-up
  • Prior work with a matrixed and decentralized teams, around clinical trial, and drug development projects
  • Strong verbal and written ability with the English language
  • Experience with change management
  • Experience with working with international/global organizations

Education:

  • BS/BA from an accredited college or university
