April 22-29 is National Infant Immunization Week
National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) is an annual observance to highlight the
importance of protecting infants from vaccine-preventable diseases and celebrate the
achievements of immunization programs and their partners in promoting healthy communities.
Since 1994, NIIW has served as a call to action for parents, caregivers, and healthcare
providers to ensure that infants are fully immunized against 14 vaccine-preventable diseases.

LifeScience Moment: Treatment Outcomes in Black and White Children With Cancer was published
On April 30, 2012, "Treatment Outcomes in Black and White Children With Cancer: Results From the SEER Database and
St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 1992 Through 2007 was published.
The analysis of the SEER data indicated that in both study periods, black patients had significantly poorer rates of
survival than did white patients, with the exception of a few types of cancer.
